In the fall of 2018, Shelby arrived in Sevilla, Spain, ready to learn the language, embrace Spanish culture, and immerse herself in a new way of life. On one of her very first nights, she went with friends to Pura Vida rooftop bar, not knowing that fate was already at work. Her waiter that evening was Ignacio’s friend, and just a few days later, he introduced her to Ignacio. From that moment, a new chapter quietly began. What started as a chance meeting soon became something neither of them could have imagined. In the weeks and months that followed, they shared long conversations, slow walks through the city’s cobblestone streets, and a growing closeness that felt both effortless and meant to be. When it came time to say goodbye at the end of Shelby’s study abroad, they were both heartbroken, unsure of what the future would hold. But just a few months later, in March, they saw each other again when Shelby returned to visit with her best friends — and from that moment on, neither of them ever questioned it again. In time, Sevilla became their shared home. They built a life filled with small joys and unforgettable moments, from evening strolls beneath the orange trees to weekend trips across Andalucía. In November 2024, they bought their first apartment together, and just two months later, in January 2025, Ignacio asked Shelby to marry him on that very same Pura Vida rooftop where it all began. Now, surrounded by family and friends from both sides of the ocean who have supported them every step of the way, they are ready to celebrate the love that began under the warm Sevilla sky and will carry them into this beautiful new chapter.
