Wedding Party

Meet our dearest family and friends!

Shelby Leyland

Bride

Shelby grew up and went to college in Nebraska. After graduation, she taught English in Japan for two years before settling down in Seattle in 2011. She teaches music to Kindergarten through 5th-grade students at a public school, and she loves singing in the Mägi Ensemble choir in her spare time.

Stephen Reed

Groom

Stephen grew up in the Tri-Cities in Washington. After graduating from Whitman College, he was a Field Organizer on Obama’s 2008 Presidential campaign in New Mexico. He moved to Seattle to work for Senator Maria Cantwell for over eight years and is now the Senior Communications Officer at Woodland Park Zoo. Stephen loves to play board games and also serves as Chair for the 37th Legislative District Democrats. He has an impressive (embarrassing?) collection of lightsabers.

Jo Leyland

Mother of the Bride

“My mom is the best human on the face of the planet! She makes crafts for my students in Seattle, even though she’s never met them. That’s just the kind of person she is. She has three jobs and basically runs the city of Imperial, Nebraska! People know that they can rely on her when they’re in need. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my mom; the best parts of me came from her!”

Shelly Reed

Mother of the Groom

“When I was growing up, my mom made me a lot of costumes for Halloween and theater productions in high school. One memorable costume was being a whole haunted house for Halloween. My mom is an excellent host, and our house was always open as the hangout spot for all our friends. I get my sense of humor from trying to make her laugh!”

Jeff Leyland

Father of the Bride

“My dad has a knack for fun adventures. While fishing or hiking, we’d look through binoculars or stop to examine animal tracks. On long car rides, he’d say, ‘I got a quarter burning a hole in my pocket, and I’ll give it to the first person who finds a duck’ or something else. He has a great sense of humor, the kind of humor that only the two of us appreciate!”

Randy Reed

Father of the Groom

“Some of my favorite memories with my dad are going to baseball and football games together. He definitely gave me my love of Seattle sports (which can be a curse when it comes to rooting for the Mariners!). He also coached my Little League and chess teams in elementary school. My dad has always been a great role model and supported me in any endeavor.”

Logan Lauren

Co-Officiant & Person of Honor

“I met Logan on Craigslist while looking for a roommate in 2012. We shared an apartment in Seattle and became best friends—it was a fortuitous match. Our friendship is the definition of true friendship; we would do anything for each other! Logan has a great sense of humor and a spreadsheet for anything.”

Steve Lee

Co-Officiant & Best Man

“I met Steve between sixth and seventh grade in a summer theater class, where we immediately became friends. During winter breaks in college, we had lots of fun putting on big Festivus parties the night before Christmas Eve. Steve is incredibly generous and a savvy business planner; he’s always been there when anyone needs him.”

Marcia Henline

Bridesmaid

“I became friends with Marcia through Sabrina, and the three of us lived together during our time at Hastings College in Nebraska. Marcia is a creative, loving person and a dedicated mom and preschool teacher. I most appreciate her wisdom and her big perspective of the world. Whenever I get to talk to her, it’s like a little gift.”

Graham Klym

Groomsman

“Graham and I went to the same middle school and performed together at the Academy of Children's Theatre. Most of my music tastes come from mixed CDs that he’s made for me. I like that Graham is always ready for fun and dialed into the latest thing—whether it’s dancing at Soul Night, playing pinball, or a new adventure. If you want to have a good time in Seattle, call Graham!”

Sabrina Miller

Bridesmaid

“I met Sabrina on the outside steps of our college dorm, during the first day of orientation at Hastings. In college, people said we looked exactly alike. We likened ourselves to the two main characters of ‘Anne of Green Gables.’ Sabrina was the courageous and bold Anne, and I was the shy and sensible Diana—different personalities but steadfast friends.”

Bryce Erlandson

Groomsman

“I met Bryce through theater in middle school (are you sensing a pattern?). In later years, we hosted epic 24-hour movie marathons. Bryce has a passion for art and film, and he’d curate lists from movie genres such as horror or sci-fi. We had a lot of fun and watched some ridiculously terrible movies, including ‘Teenage Caveman.’ Bryce is a loyal friend and all three of these guys have always felt like family to me.”

Chelsea Leyland

Sister of the Bride

“Chelsea is such a great older sister. My earliest memory together is chasing lightning bugs in the forest behind our grandparents’ house in Georgia. When we were growing up, I would copy Chelsea all the time—I still do! She’s exceptionally talented and can build or fix anything. Fun fact: Chelsea sewed my wedding dress; she repurposed fabric from our mom’s wedding dress!”

Dr. Caitlin Lund

Sister of the Groom

“Caitlin is my younger sister, and we fought like cats and dogs as kids (she *almost* always started it!) As adults, I’ve enjoyed becoming friends with her—we like to play board games, ride bikes, and go to beer tastings together. I’m super proud of her for becoming the first MD of the family! She also makes excellent pickled peppers from her garden.”

Ada

Meow of Honor

Ada will never turn down a treat for her "cookie jar!" She loves attention and ALL THE BELLY RUBS.

Pythagoras

Bestest Cat

Pthags may act like a grumpy old man, but he's actually a diva. His heart belongs to Stephen (...and only Stephen!).
