Our friend Jennifer Potts threw a party for incoming University of Alabama students from Indiana at this coffee shop called "The Well." We met there for the first time but didn't think much of it. We were more focused on our new friend, Kevin, who invited us to join a campus ministry, Chi Alpha. We saw each other from time to time at Chi Alpha events but didn't grow close until our sophomore year. After hanging out and studying together and wondering if the other person liked them, we finally confessed our feelings. You'll never believe what happened next...
In an unexpected turn of events, we traveled back to "The Well." Matt spent the morning decorating the coffeehouse before picking me up for lunch. We walked around a nearby park before heading over to grab a cup of coffee. When we got to the shop, the doors were locked and a sign read "Closed for an Event." The manager, in on the whole scheme, came to unlock the door and suggested we get drinks to go before the event. Right as we walked in, two drinks in matching mugs sat waiting for us, Lights and vines adorned the coffee bar alongside a corkboard filled with pictures of us. As I turned to Matt in confusion, he got down on one knee and asked to drink coffee together for the rest of our lives.
We are moving to Marion, Virginia where Lauren will attend Physician Assistant School for the next 27 months at Emory & Henry College and Matt will be working remotely. We are most excited to be moving to the Blue Ridge Mountains and to explore all the nature in the surrounding areas. PA School will be very rigorous, and because of this, we may not get to visit or communicate as often as we would like. Please know that we will be praying for and thinking about every one of you and will do our best to stay in touch.
