Our story begins in the fall of 2018 over the dating app, Bumble. Our mutual love of nerdy pop culture such as Doctor Who led us to planning our first date. On October 18, 2018, we met for dinner at a local Orlando sandwich shop/tea house called Pom Pom’s. Despite the stress of the work day, the connection was immediate and many dates were planned and had.

Every good love story has a few plot twists. Seth was on dialysis for kidney failure and was in need of a transplant. Shaylon was increasingly dissatisfied with her current work situation. In December of 2018, Seth miraculously received his transplant and started a long recovery process with Shaylon by his side. Around that same time, Shaylon found another career opportunity and began to transition and eventually relocate to Jacksonville, Florida.

Despite these challenges that tested our relationship early on we quickly realized we could not do life without each other. The first night in her new city, Seth proposed to Shaylon in her empty apartment by getting down on one knee and saying "Shaylon Christine McAlister, we don't need anything but each other, I want us to be our home, will you marry me?" The rest, as they say, is a big ball of wibbily wobbly timey wimey stuff.
