Travel Note
There are two main airports in Sicily: Catania (CTA) and Palermo (PMO). Both are international airports, but one is far more convenient for our wedding location - the Catania airport
Flight
The closest airport is Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA). This is the airport we strongly recommend all guests fly into. It’s the main international airport on the east coast of Sicily and the most convenient option for flying in for the wedding—only 10–15 minutes from Catania city.
Flight
Guests can also fly into Palermo if flights are cheaper or work better with your route. Just keep in mind it’s on the opposite side of the island. The drive to Catania takes about 2.5–3 hours, though it’s a beautiful coastal route if you’re planning to explore more of Sicily.
Travel Note
We reserved a hotel block at Romano Palace. https://www.romanopalace.it/en/ SEE INFO BELOW We will be hosting a Welcome Party the night before at the hotel. On the day of the wedding, a shuttle will depart from the hotel (Romano Palace) to bring guests to the venue (Castello Xirumi) and back to the hotel. Romano Palace is about 5 minutes outside of Catania city center which helps us avoid city traffic. The venue is approximately a 25-30 minute drive from the hotel. From the airport to the Romano Palace: 10-15 minutes by taxi, costing around €25–€35. From the city center to the beach hotels (Romano Palace and NH): 5-10 minutes by taxi, costing around €15–€25. Taxis are easily available and affordable in Catania (you can use credit cards or cash). Whether you're staying on the beach or in the city center, it's simple to get between the airport, hotels, and the city center. Uber: Available in Catania and works well during the day, but fewer drivers are active late at night. Taxi App: Download AppTaxi, which is widely used and extremely reliable after dark. Parking App: If renting a car, download EasyPark to pay for parking in most Sicilian cities.
