How We Met

No adams apple… SWEET!!!

Donald and I met through an online dating website. After having no luck for a few days, I finally came accross his profile and decided to send him a message. I didn’t know what to say at first, but I knew I had to say something. My message was very short and straight to the point. I started by letting him know that I was intrigued and wanted to know more, if he was interested. He responded right away and let me know he was out shopping but would message me later. After his shopping trip, I received another message from him this time containing his phone number. Since that day, we began texting and calling each other on a daily basis. On 03/25/2018, Donald asked me if I was interested in dating exclusively and we’ve been attached at the hip ever since. Fast forward a few months later, we decided to take our online relationship one step further by meeting in person. When I first visited Donald in May 2018 we both smiled so hard as I walked down the escalator. He gave me an awkward look, (me—not knowing he was making sure I didn't have an adams apple) then he hugged me so tight. There were so many emotions running through our bodies we were nervous, excited, but undoubtly happy.

Proposal Story

I’ll play you for your heart!

Of course, with me being an athlete, a sports fan, and a women. Naturally, Donald wanted to challenge me in HORSE and a few basketball games at a court near his house. It should come as no surprise who won. SPOILER ALERT!!!! I beat him…. I beat him in EVERYTHING. After we finished playing around we were exhausted….. Especially me from winning all day lol. But, it was at that very moment, that I thought of a line from one of my favorite movies (Love and Basketball); and as exhausted, sweaty, and overheated as we were I conjured up the strength to play one last game. So I looked at Donald and recited the line from Love and Basketball “I'll play you for your heart"! He agreed and smiled so big. I was excited too and of course we all know how the game ended …I won and have had his heart ever since! As I would later find out, this bonus game was the most important game of the night. Fast forward to March 20, 2020, I pulled up to Mr. & Mrs. Laufenberg's house and Don came out quick and said, "come on let's go". I was like go where? He said just get in......we pulled up to that same park that I beat him at and at 4:20 that evening and he said" remember how you beat me for my heart, as he kneeled on one knee and said, "well will you take my heart and marry me"? I said ABSOLUTELY, we embraced and kissed while I cried tears of joy. We proceeded to his parents house to share the good news and celebrated with champagne!! ❤️GAME OVER🏀 WE LOOK FORWARD TO CELEBRATING WITH YOU IN JAMAICA❤️
