Flight

Booking Flights

When planning international flights, we recommend booking your flights AT LEAST six months before your travel date. Use skyscanner or kayak websites to set alerts for your journey to look for the best rates. Airlines and preferred airports will differ depending on your city of origin. The Dublin Airport will give our guests the most amount of options for those flying from the US and non-EU countries. It is about an easy 2 hour drive from the Dublin airport to Galway city or a 2.5-3 hour bus ride. The Shannon Airport is about a 1.5 hour drive or 2 hour bus ride.

Travel Note

Book a Bus

We recommend using www.citylink.ie (alternatively Bus Éireann) if bus is your preferred method of travel. You can pre-book the buses online or purchase tickets when you arrive. Please note the Dublin airport line for non-EU guests to process through customs could take up to 45 minutes or more. Keep this in mind if you're pre-booking buses.

Rental Car

If you're flying into Dublin or Shannon and plan to see more of Ireland than Galway, you may be interested in your own rental car. There are lots of options, but remember to double check if your rental is manual or automatic. You won't need a car in Galway city and there are lots of transportation options for day trips and other adventures!

If you're looking for other options nearby, we recommend you check out Salthill Hotel across the street or Jury's Inn in Galway City centre. There are many hotel options and BnBs in the area!

If you're planning to stay in Galway for more than one night and we hope that you will, then you may be interested in a Bed & Breakfast (Ireland is known for them) or a AirBnb that will give you all the space and comforts of home. There are many options in the Galway area, but book early as July is a popular time for visitors! Airbnb.com or VRBO.com for private housing rentals.
