The bad news is that Covid-19 is still an ongoing pandemic. The good news? Vaccinations are safe and effective. A rate of fully vaccinated individuals in Germany of approximately 60% is likely to be achieved by September. Traveling and day-to-day activities are going to be almost normal for most individuals. We truly want everyone to feel comfortable at our wedding and we are continually monitoring the Covid-19 situation and guidelines. Right now, we do not see a significant risk. Please get a negative antigen test on September 4, as requested by Hotel de Rome. Reach out if you have any specific questions.
Europe will be introducing Covid-19 Vaccination Passports that allow people to travel between all countries by demonstrating they have received the vaccine. If you have any questions or hesitations about vaccinations, please don't hesitate to reach out to Matthias. The vaccines are safe!
No problem. Please let us know until August 19 via Email or text in case of any food allergies or requirements. Hotel de Rome will be able to work around that.
These are a few things to keep in mind when visiting Germany (or any other European city!) Currency: Euros. Most countries (except for the UK or the Czech Republic) use the Euro as their currency. Exchange a few American dollars at the airport or at exchange currency centers and you are fine for basically all major countries. Cash: Have 100 Euros in cash with you! Little shops and street cafes may not accept cards. Tip: 10% on average; 15% for exceptional service. Language: Most people in major cities and the public transportation speak English. On the streets of Berlin, you will hear English and German used interchangeably! Expect a free beer for a solid sentence in German in a bar though! Transportation: The major cities do provide Uber and cabs. However, we recommend using public transport such as street cars or trains. It is part of the experience of Europe!

Yes! We love all your little ones. Please let us know on your RSVP if you intend on bringing your children. We will be providing child-care at the reception. | Unbedingt! Je größer die Meute umso besser! Bitte teilt uns mit, wie viele Kinder ihr mitbringen möchten. Wir kümmern uns falls gewünscht auch gern um die Kinderbetreuung während der Party.
Germany has great public transportation and a car is not necessary to get around the country. The main reason to get a rental car is to hit one of the "Autobahns" (i.e. freeways) such as the A9 (from Berlin to Munich) and go as fast as you want. Unless otherwise posted, there are no speed limits on the Autobahns. There are plenty of rental companies in every major city. Your US drivers licence is sufficient to rent and drive a car. Please Note: there are a few differences when driving in Germany versus the United States: 1. You cannot turn right on a red traffic light, unless there is a green arrow underneath the light. 2. On the Autobahn, the lanes are used according to speed, from left to right being fastest to slowest. You will see cars going 150 mph in the left lane. It is very rude to drive only 65-75 mph in the left lane. If you use the left lane, go fast. If a car approaches you in your mirror, make space. You are allowed to overtake cars only on their left side!
