As healthcare workers, we understand that everyone has different comfort levels with traveling and gathering in large groups during Covid. Our ceremony and reception will both be outdoors to help with ventilation and keep everyone safe. (There will be a tent for the reception and heaters to keep us warm in case it's chilly!) Who knows what the world will be like in October, but we are hoping we can safely gather together everyone we love!
We say this in joking reference to the fact that "dressing up" in Bend means putting on your finest Patagonia jacket, Blundstone boots, and Carhartt beanie and heading to the brewery. Bend is not an inherently "fancy" place. Our wedding venue is not paved, so let the stilettos stay behind for this trip. For wedding attire, please wear something nicer than jeans, but if you bring a puffy coat to throw on over your outfit for after the sun sets and the cold hits, you will fit right in.
Bend is a high desert/mountain-type environment. It's beautiful in October, but it can be anywhere from 80 degrees and sunny during the day to 30 degrees and chilly at night. It might rain, it might not. We never really know. Pack layers, check the weather, and bring your sense of adventure!
Great question! There are several shuttle companies in town to take you from the airport to your hotel, and many hotels have shuttles. If you are staying in an AirBnB, I recommend checking out a company like Enviro Shuttle, as it is cheaper than Uber/Lyft from the airport. Bend is a small town in many ways, and finding an Uber/Lyft can sometimes be tricky after 9:30 - 10 pm. We tried to pick hotels that are close to bars and restaurants so that people can walk if they would like. Rental cars are always an option from the Redmond Airport as well. **A note about our wedding venue: it is in the woods! There is little to no cell service at the venue, so Uber/Lyft is not an option for returning from the event. We will have shuttles available to take guests back to their hotels. Please plan accordingly.**
