Celina’s very good friend from college, Petrina Grube, has generously offered to officiate our wedding, along with her wonderful husband, Roger Wickstrom. Petrina is originally from Portland, Oregon but has lived in Australia, New Zealand and Venezuela! Roger is from the Central Valley but mostly grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They now live in San Francisco, are very involved with their local Episcopalian church and most days can be found hiking or biking around town at their favorite spots like the Presidio, or Baker Beach.
Celia Chagoya
Mother of the Bride
Celia is 88 years old, is originally from northern Mexico (Gomez Palacio, Durango) and has lived most of her life in the greater Los Angeles area. Celia has been a proud home maker and mother all her life; giving all to her two kiddos. She likes gardening, bird watching, reading and home improvement projects. Celia loves children and animals and is the kindest, most thoughtful person ever.
Shannon Newbold

Hi, I’m Shannon, the lucky groom! Born in Mountain View and grew up in San Jose, I moved to Davis in 1995 to attend UC Davis. Upon graduation I decided to remain in Davis and begin a budding career as a softare developer. I am also an avid pilot and a guitar player in two local sacramento bands. Thank you for celebrating this special day with us. I can’t wait to see what the future holds as we begin our life together as husband and wife!

Teresa is Celina’s bestie at work at the California Department of Education. Teresa is originally from the Bay Area. She loves San Francisco, world travel, Yosemite (where her dad put down roots) and her wonderful daughter, Milena.

Hola. I’m Celina, proud mom to Sabrina, daughter, sister and soon to be wife! I was born in Whittier, CA just outside Los Angeles. I’ve been in Davis about 13 years now and I love it. Some time ago, at Pomona College, I studied International Relations and then taught bilingual elementary school for several years in East Los Angeles. I then shuffled over to education policy, which brought me to the Sacramento area. As a mom to a teenager I don’t have time for much else but when possible will try to squeeze in a hike in nature. I’m always on the lookout for good Mexican food and I secretly root for the Dodgers ( don’t tell Shannon or anyone else in NorCal). Not religious but the word “blessing” is what arrives when I think of meeting Shannon. I am so excited for our new life together and am grateful you are here to celebrate with us . ♥️
Richard Torres

Richard is Celina’s only sibling and most beloved brother. He works as a 7th grade middle school English teacher in Rialto, Ca. Despite what they say about middle schoolers, he claims to love his job. Those kids got lucky! He lives in Highland, CA. Richard is a fan of good beer, a dedicated cat dad, and an unofficial poet.
Sabrina Slatten

Hi, I’m Sabrina and I’m the 13 year old daughter of the bride. I’ll be starting 8th grade next year, and I love my two cats. I like to play guitar, and currently love listening to bands like Weezer and Green Day. Most days you can find me writing, and when possible, of course, at the mall. I have known and been best friends with co-flower girl Zizi for almost my whole life.
Richard and Mary Newbold
Father and Mother of the Groom
Rich and Mary are the proud parents of two brothers Shannon and Dan. Rich, an electrical engineer and author, Mary a home maker and food service manager at a local high school raised two young boys to become successfull adults. Currently, Rich and Mary are retired and reside in Prescott Valley Az. where they enjoy hiking and the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forrests. Most importantly they can't wait to welcome Celina and Sabrina to the family.
