QUESTIONS

The Wedding Website of Shannon Luibrand and Adrian Tovar
Question

Did you postpone your wedding?

Answer

Yes. Unfortunately, due to coronavirus, we postponed our August 8, 2020 wedding. Our wedding is destination and with over 200 people invited, it was not something we could risk. We have postponed to Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Question

How do I cancel my reservation at your hotels?

Answer

If you booked your room in our hotel blocks, both hotels are being accommodating. If you booked at the Marriott you must call them to cancel and get a refund. We do not have the ability to see who booked in the block here. If you booked with the Hampton Inn, you can call 386-898-9444 to cancel. We are drafting a new contract with them for 2021 and will have more details soon on how to book in that block. We do know who booked in this block and will reach out individually with more information if needed. A new contract for this hotel will be available this July for those looking to book in this block. For flights, most airlines are offering vouchers that can be used through 2022. We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and look forward to celebrating in 2021.

Question

Where is the ceremony and reception taking place?

Answer

Our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception will be at the Brannon Center in New Smyrna Beach. The ceremony will take place behind the venue on the Indian River. Guests can choose to stay outside for cocktail hour or venture inside into our cocktail hour room in the Air Conditioning. The reception will be entirely inside, but guests will have the option of going outside if they choose to take photos or enjoy the view. See our schedule page for more details.

Question

Will there be transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Yes. A shuttle bus will pick up guests at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Smyrna Beach at 4 p.m. the day of the wedding, and immediately head to the Hampton Inn New Smyrna Beach for pickup and then drop off at our venue, the Brannon Center. The shuttle bus will again pickup at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Smyrna Beach promptly at 4:30 p.m. and then head to the Hampton Inn New Smyrna Beach for 4:35 p.m. departure. Guests not staying at the hotels can still go to the hotels for pickups. At the end of the night, the shuttle bus will drop guests off at the same hotels.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail/formal attire. Typically suits and ties for men, dresses for women. No jeans, shorts or sneakers.

Question

What are your wedding colors? I don’t want to accidentally match!

Answer

Seriously one of Shannon’s biggest fears every time she goes do a wedding! Bridesmaids are in blush (light pink) and groomsmen are in navy suits with matching ties.

Question

Can I take photos or video during your ceremony?

Answer

This is an unplugged ceremony, meaning no photos, videos or social media postings while the ceremony is taking place. Please put away all of your devices, silence them and enjoy being in the moment. We have a professional photographer and videographer that will capture everything. Feel free to use your phones and camera once the ceremony is over.

Question

Can I bring a date or a “plus one”?

Answer

If your invitation indicates you are being given a guest, then yes. If it does not, we ask that you just bring yourself. Every person invited will be sent an invitation.

Question

Are kids invited to the wedding?

Answer

Yes. We will be sending out formal invitations which will indicate exactly who is invited.

Question

Isn’t it going to be really hot?

Answer

We don’t have a crystal ball, but we can assume, yes. We will do our best to keep our guests comfortable, but we can’t control the temperature. Our ceremony will be at 5 p.m. and we will try to keep it short and sweet, but guests should expect to be in the sun and heat during that time. We have AC for both cocktail hour and the reception.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, there is a lot of parking at the Brannon Center, but we prefer our guests use the shuttle bus we are providing, or Uber or Lyft. The venue is no more than 15 minutes from all points in New Smyrna Beach, and just 8 minutes from the hotels we are working with.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes for 21+. We will have liquor, beer and wine available for guests at our cocktail hour and then at the reception. For those who don’t drink or kids, there will also be plenty of non-alcoholic beverages.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes! See our “SCHEDULE” tab. All of our guests are invited to a beach welcome the day before the wedding.

Question

Is Shannon changing her last name?

Answer

She’s not. And it’s something Adrian totally supports and has supported since they were teenagers. Shannon built her producing career with her name, earned her master’s degree with her name and her name is part of her identity (just like Adrian’s is his!). Shannon will stay Shannon Luibrand and Adrian will stay Adrian Tovar both professionally and legally, and their future children will share both their names.

Question

What is there to do in New Smyrna Beach?

Answer

So much! This is no Florida retirement community. Flagler Avenue is the main strip of restaurants and bars in NSB, and it’s on the beach. This is also where the hotels are located. There’s another area called Canal Street just a few minutes away, with more bars and restaurants. NSB has the ocean on one side, and the Indian River on the other and both offer countless outdoor activities. NSB is also close to the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral National Seashore, and of course, the Orlando amusement parks. See our “THINGS TO DO” tab for more information.

Question

Why did you pick New Smyrna Beach?

Answer

We looked at venues in upstate New York, where Shannon grew up, and there was nothing that really felt right. Shannon's parents have a condo in New Smyrna Beach and love it, so it was decided to check out a few venues. When they saw the Brannon Center, they knew it was it, and it was a great opportunity for all guests to get to know one of their favorite places in the world.

Question

So...what's the deal with the sharks?

Answer

The rumors are true, yes, New Smyrna Beach is the shark capital of the world with more shark bites than any other place. More than Australia?! Yup. More than California? Yup. More than Cape Cod? Yeppppp. We know, we know, it's scary. But Shannon and Adrian, and her family, have been going to NSB for years and have never seen a shark (knock on wood). If you're really worried, don't swim too far out, don't wear bathing suits with loud patterns, avoid excessive splashing and swim in groups. Happy sharking -- er -- swimming!

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes, on Zola and at Bed, Bath & Beyond. See our “REGISTRY” tab for more information.
