How We Met

How does anyone meet these days?

Engagement Story

By the time they actually got engaged, Robbyn had cancelled her own proposal twice accidentally. The day they got engaged, Shane took Robbyn to where they had their second date and many more dates after that, the Dallas Farmers Market. Unlike their second date, they didn't run into Zach Dylla, but they did recreate some other memories. They ate at the same Mexican restaurant and bought the same type of plant they did at their second date. Now, they have a plant from when they first started dating and one from one of the most special days of their relationship. Later that evening, Robbyn and Shane went to Nick and Sam's, where they celebrated their second anniversary this past January. It was one of their favorite restaurant experiences and they loved being able to reminisce on their anniversary together. Robbyn was secretly horrified that they would be getting engaged at the restaurant and was relieved when it didn't look like that was happening. Finally, after stopping at home to drop off the leftovers, they headed to their third and final stop of the evening. On the walk from their apartment to the proposal location, Shane was telling Robbyn all types of sweet, romantic things. She hardly remembers any of them because she was so nervous, but it was nice in the moment. Finally, they stopped in front of the place that started it all, the location of their first date, Bowen House. This had been the setting for many of their favorite dates, celebrating holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, and of course the first time they met. The only thing Robbyn remembers Shane saying is "how about forever?" and then he got down on one knee. Robbyn was momentarily blinded by the ROCK she was being shown, and she was able to nod a "yes". Right as she was about to cry, Shane thankfully stood up and hugged her. Right after that, Vicky the photographer ran from across the street to begin their photoshoot! The rest of the evening was spent with Shane's siblings celebrating, facetiming several friends and family (or at least attempting to facetime... next time answer your phone Mady LOL) and eventually having Shane's friends join in the celebration. They walked home and their favorite stray cats that hang around Bowen House were all out sitting on the steps, I guess they wanted to be part of the celebration too! It was the perfect, quintessential Robbyn and Shane day. Despite Shane once saying he would never propose at Bowen House, it was the perfect location and backdrop for this monumental moment.
