Kate and Shane met in Fall of 2013 at Virginia Tech. Kate was beginning her senior year at the university, and Shane had just transferred in from another school. Both of them had just moved into an apartment complex in northern Blacksburg when Shane cut Kate off in the parking lot as she was making the last turn towards her parking spot. After he cut her off, he parked in his normal spot only to realize he was in the spot right next to hers. He got out of his car and waited patiently so that he could apologize for being so rude. She lingered, as she was not too fond of the idea of dealing with the jerk that just cut her off. It took a while, but he was willing to wait as long as it would take to set things straight. To his luck, when she stepped out of her mom-van, he was pleasantly surprised that the person he had cut off was in fact a stunning young woman. Shane approached her saying he was sorry, and she claimed that it was fine...she claimed she wasn't frustrated. He knew better and finally got her to admit she was annoyed, but forgiving, luckily for Shane. As they started to go up the same staircase, they realized that they were next door neighbors. They both got excited to discover that they lived right next door. Numbers were exchanged, and Shane and Kate got to know each other as friends over the next few months. In the Spring of 2014, Shane was living in Covington, VA working for an internship. They had decided to spend Valentines together only for a blizzard to coincide on that very day. Determined to meet Kate for their date, Shane drove 5 hours in the snowstorm to make it to Blacksburg. Over time, their love has blossomed into a strong bond built on trust and respect. The couple has learned together, laughed together, and loved together, and they are excited to celebrate their union with you all.
Shane planned a colorful weekend getaway to Montreal in the fall during foliage season. The couple spent the morning getting brunch at L'Avenue, a hip restaurant with eclectic decor and trippy cartoon art in the bathrooms. After brunch, they hiked up Mount Royal with the dogs. Mount Royal, which is right in the center of Montreal, provided Kate and Shane scenic views of the large city and surrounding landscapes! In the evening, they went over to Old Port where they enjoyed food, drinks, and goofy conversation by the riverfront. Once back at the elegant airbnb, Shane proposed and the puppies were right there to celebrate. One really memorable moment of the weekend was on Saturday evening. The couple went to the public gardens for a seasonal light show. The journey to get to the gardens was quite long, and ended up involving quite a bit of walking. When Kate and Shane finally got to the gardens, they waited in a line only to find out that the tickets were sold out. Disappointed, they decided they would head back to the airbnb to take the dogs out and find something else to do. Right as they were about to leave, a couple approached them and offered their tickets for the show since they didn't plan to use them. Kate and Shane were both stunned and grateful for their generosity. The light show was better than they had imagined and gave them even more reason to appreciate and reflect on the serendipity of not only getting the tickets, but the countless other fortune-filled moments which brought them closer together.
