Shanae Jones

Bride

She gets me. That may not mean much to most, but it means the world to me. Here is the One who chooses to love me - because, Love is in fact a choice. And, not only does she do it well, she loves me the way I've always wanted to be loved. She gets my humor, too. We spend hours laughing at things random passers by may not even understand. We even laugh about laughing! I remember praying for someone who's quality time makes up for lost time. She is the answer to that prayer. She makes the world disappear. Don't believe me? Ask me about our 3rd date sometime. I'm no writer & I certainly can't accurately describe her within the confines of an 800 character limit. I don't quite understand it all either but it's like she just vibes at my frequency. That, my friends... is who she is.

David Holman

Groom

What can I say about my Love, Friend, and Fellow Adventurer? How can I put in words the redemptive love, compassion, thoughtfulness, and grace David gives? When we met, he was honest about what he wanted and had a passion to only do healthy relationships. It was so refreshing, yet hard to believe, because it was an answer to so many spoken and unspoken prayers. The more David and I shared, the more I knew there was something in me that felt connected to him and two years later, I understand why.I will not attempt to convey the depth of my emotion, nor cheapen his significance, by typing it in less than 800 words. What I will say is he is my blessing and I am full of joy and anticipation that I get to spend the rest of my life with such a fine, smart, funny, loving, and God-fearing Man.

Ladonna Farrish

Best Woman

Ladonna W. Farrish and I have been friends for over 17 years. My friendship with Ladonna has taught me so many things. The most impactful has been the self-love she has encouraged me to honor, which has transformed my world. Ladonna is the quintessential modern woman. From her poised demeanor to her love for Tea, she never ceases to amaze me. She’s the true definition of bestie, and I am so blessed to have her stand beside me in this wonderful season of my life. Ladonna, hails from Reidsville, NC and resides in Graham, NC with her husband Benton and son Kemuel. Ladonna recently completed a Masters of Divinity from Duke University and is a Quality Assurance Engineer at Cenduit. She is also is President, and Co-Founder of Wharton-Farrish, Inc.

Terrance Wesley

Best Man

Hampton, VA born & raised, Terrance is yet another product of the 757 currently residing in North Carolina. He lives with is beautiful wife (of 12 years) Takela & his two amazing sons, Israel & Iden. He attended Norfolk State University and has recently obtained a degree in Radiological Science from Vance-Granville College. Terrance is also the worship leader at City Light Church in Raleigh. David met Terrance during his x-ray clinical rotation at Duke University Hospital. Besides their choice of careers, they quickly realized just how much they have in common. Most notably, both are transplants from Hampton & they even went to rival high schools! A true friend and valuable voice of wisdom, Terrance has been a big fan of this union.

Addison Floyd

Maid of Honor

My Sweet Girl... I have always wanted to have a daughter- I just didn’t know it would require such hard work. Addy had become quite accustomed to life with just her mom and brother and initially, I thought her stance would be to hard to overcome. Then I turned to a voice of wisdom and got the Man-Up speech of a lifetime. Energized, I pressed forward, focused to win her heart-and my work paid off. Addy is a self-proclaimed “Boyfriend's Girl” (referring to David), and soon-to-be “Daddy’s Girl.” The two are now inseparable. They love their long talks on the car ride home, where she divulges the hardships of middle school life. Addison loves theater, shopping, and singing. She is an honor roll student at Centennial Magnet Middle School, where she is a 7th Grader.

Lonnie Floyd

Man of Honor

This talented young gentleman is Lonnie Crawford, or “LC” as we call him. Since day one, Lonnie has been a David advocate and fan. LC is one of the most thoughtful and compassionate people you could meet. He consistently does the little things that matter. Some of his deeds toward his mother and sister are quite amazing. Most men could learn a few things from watching this one. He is a diehard Panthers fan, whose love for the team started after David purchased tickets so he could attend his first NFL Game for his birthday. He plays football for the Raleigh Patriots and loves family time. He is on the Science Olympiad team at Emma Conn Active Learning and Technology Magnet Elementary School, where he's a 4th grader.

Rev. Ralph Duke

Officiant

Reverend. Pastor. Minister. Missionary. Father. Business man. "Uncle Ralph," as David calls him, is actually his father's first cousin.  Rev. Duke's mother, the late-great Beatrice B. Duke & Johanna Holman (David's grandmother) were sisters.  Great Aunt Bea (as she should have been called) realizing both her brother's and her sister's children were having a tough time figuring out what to call her, then decided "Just have 'em call me Grandma." So they did, and naturally, everyone under Grandma Bea simply became Auntie and Uncle. David remembers the words his Uncle told him oh so many years ago, "No matter how big you get, I will always be bigger." Fitting words, as David holds him in such high esteem.
