A beautiful arboretum and park with several miles of hiking trails along the Coast Fork and to the summit of Mt. Pisgah. The summit trail is about 1.5 miles, and although steep in parts, gives you spectacular views of the Willamette Valley and surrounding Cascades and Coast Mountains.
This is a beautiful park to have a picnic by the river, take a stroll or ride your bike along the miles of paths along the Willamette River. The city of Eugene has an excellent bike share program that allows you the flexibility to rent a bike for as long as you'd like and return the bikes to different locations around the city. With a very well-connected bike path system, you can get around almost all of Eugene-Springfield by bike!
Hendricks Park is Eugene's oldest city park. Its 80 acres includes a world-renowned rhododendron garden and a native plant garden. Laced with paths and the northern terminus of the 12-mile Ridgeline Trail, the park is a haven for hikers, birders, and others who enjoy retreating to the tranquility of nature. Without leaving the city, visitors can walk among 200 year-old Douglas fir trees, ferns, and wildflowers such as trilliums and irises, and over 6,000 varieties of rhododendrons and other ornamental plants.
Where Seth and Rachel met! Home to the Oregon Ducks, the University of Oregon has a beautiful campus worth a visit. There are several museums on campus including the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural and Cultural History. The Pioneer Cemetery on campus is one of the oldest cemeteries in Eugene and listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. Soldiers from nearly every war from the Civil War to WWII and the original pioneers who traveled the Oregon Trail are buried here.
A Eugene landmark - this site is a memorial to running legend Steve “Pre” Prefontaine. Pre was an Olympian and runner for the University of Oregon. He helped popularize track and long-distance running and helped put Eugene on the map as "Track Town USA". Today, Eugene is home to many running legends and is a popular training area for the Olympics.
Hayward Field is a historic track and field stadium on the University of Oregon campus. The original field was built in 1919 and has been home to numerous NCAA championships, Olympic trials, and US Track and Field championships. Unfortunately, the original field was demolished in 2018, however a new field now stands in its place and offers a state-of-the-art facility for track and field events. For any running enthusiasts, there are some nice displays that show the history of track and field in Eugene.
Picturesque winery on the outskirts of Eugene. Come enjoy a glass of famed Willamette Valley pinot noir or one of their many other varietals.
Located next door to King Estate Winery, Alesong is a unique brewery that specializes in barrel-aged and sour ales. Our favorite brewery in Eugene!
Fun downtown shopping district in Eugene. Many unique locally-owned shops and restaurants to explore. Some of our favorites include Pendleton Woolen Mills Store for authentic Pendleton wool items and Provisions Market for a french-style cafe and market.
Eugene is pretty quirky, and this is probably the quirkiest of the neighborhoods! Kind of grungy, this is a unique neighborhood with lots of different food trucks, restaurants, coffee shops, and (our favorite) breweries!
Secluded area great for short hikes and wildlife viewing. Located on the Fern Ridge Reservoir, lots of waterfowl and marsh bird habitat to view.
Beach town located near the confluence of the Siuslaw River and Pacific Ocean. Florence is about 1.5 hours from Eugene and takes you on a scenic drive through the Coastal Mountains. Lots of cute shops and restaurants in downtown including lots of waterside dining options. Continue your drive along US Highway 101 for beach access and incredible views of the Pacific Ocean!
A scenic lighthouse with lots of history about maritime Oregon. This is one of the most photographed lighthouses on the Oregon coast - and with good reason! It is beautiful! For anyone looking for a good scare, the lighthouse keeper's house is now a B&B that is said to be haunted!
For a relaxing (and hot!) experience, check out the geothermal hot springs at the Belknap Springs Resort. For a small fee, you can get access to natural hot springs located in the Cascades.
Beautiful waterfall and hiking trails in the Cascades. And for any 90s movie buffs - the scene in Homeward Bound where poor Sassy goes over the waterfall was filmed here! Watch the movie to find out if she survives! (Kidding, she lives!)
