It was near midnight when a friend of Isabel’s promised her a fun New Year’s Eve party around the corner at her friend “the widower’s” house. However ominous, she mustered enthusiasm and sauntered to the house, where she discovered a party in full swing and Sergio. From the moment they met, Isabel couldn’t stop laughing. His laughter was infectious, impossibly joyous, enough to captivate her entire attention, to this day. Lunches and dinners and dates continued as their story wore on, and it was evident that being together was far better than being apart, that in Sergio she had found a champion and incredibly loving partner. On the evening of May 31st, 17 months later, without even the remotest numerical superstition, Sergio and Isabel attended a beach party in Key Biscayne with many friends, who already knew something was up. Near midnight on a cloudy and excessively blustery evening--20 knots at least-- as they were walking home by the shore, Sergio stopped and got on one knee, asking Isabel to marry him. To which she replied, “Yes, Of course!”
