Travel Note
Dear guests from afar: Context: If you are not familiar with the history of New Mexico I strongly encourage you to explore this in advance. Accommodations - I have only listed some of what is available - you may want to stay in Santa Fe, Taos, etc, I have listed a few places I imagine convenient and give a spectrum of options. Transportation- please understand there is extremely limited public transportation, strongly consider renting a car to get around . . .let me know if you are looking for folks to share a rental car with. If you can't manage that let me know so we can coordinate. For the determined their is the RTD http://www.ncrtd.org/ Weather - Can change rapidly and dramatically. Day time could be in 80s and the night in the 50s - we are most often sunny skies, but one can never tell. In 2017 we still got snow in early May. Bring layers with you. BEWARE OF ALTITUDE. You will mostly be at 6-7,000 ft. STAY HYDRATED. Give yourself time to acclimate. Careful with alcohol.
Flight
Most of you will want to fly into ABQ (1 hour 45 minutes by car) from Chimayo, where we live. Some of you may find it more convenient (though a much smaller airport) to fly into Santa Fe Airport . . . NM is a low density population state has very limited public transportation.
