The stuff you gotta know.
Question

When Should I Book My Travel?

Answer

We didn't give you much of a heads up anyway - we suggest getting on it! Flight costs into LA typically only increase the closer you get to travel day. Our room block at the Cara Hotel is provided on a first come first serve basis and discounts will expire on August 3rd, 2025, so plan accordingly!

Question

What will the weather be like in Los Angeles?

Answer

Los Angeles in early November is usually a dream! While we can’t control Mother Nature, (Ginny, the bride's mom, is in negotiations,) history tells us to expect mild, sunny weather with daytime highs around the mid-70s°F and cooler evenings in the 50s°F. We recommend bringing layers: sunglasses for the sunshine and a light jacket or wrap for after our outdoor wedding ceremony as the sun comes down. Rain is rare this time of year, but we’ll keep an eye on the forecast just in case. Overall, it’s one of the loveliest times to be in LA—perfect for a celebration under the palm trees.

Question

Is the wedding indoors/outdoors?

Answer

Mostly outdoors - we hope to take advantage of the California weather and sweeping views of the Paramour Estate, so bring a sweater for after sunset! But we will be dancing in the indoor ballroom and hope guests find the salon where you can enjoy a drink on crushed velvet antique sofas, look up at the Venetian chandelier, and practice your best Oscar acceptance speech.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

Our dress code is cocktail - we suggest coats and ties for gents, and dresses or upscale pant suits/jumpsuits for ladies. But we're also getting married in an old-school Hollywood mansion - if you've ever wanted to get red carpet ready, this is certainly your opportunity! Glitz and glam is more than welcome.

Question

Where should I stay in Los Angeles?

Answer

We're going to make the beautiful Cara Hotel our home base, and we invite you to check out the room block we've organized. Book by 8/3 with our code for the discounted rate! That said, LA is a huge city with landmark hotels, unique boutiques, and dozens of different AirBnbs & vacation rentals to suit your needs - feel free to explore. All wedding events will take place in Los Feliz & Silver Lake, so we recommend those neighborhoods as well as The Grove/Hancock Park, Windsor Circle, or Larchmont Village to keep your movements safe and convenient.

Question

On that note - is Los Angeles safe?

Answer

We totally understand the question - Los Angeles is a big city with a lot of energy! But rest assured, LA is not only beautiful and exciting, it’s also very safe for visitors, especially in the neighborhoods and venues we’ll be spending time in. Like when visiting any major city, it’s smart to stay aware of your surroundings, but there’s no need to stress. If you plan to venture around the city and have safety questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Seldy & Eric or their families - we're all here to help.

Question

Is the traffic in LA REALLY that bad?

Answer

In short - it really can be! Traffic can be rough in LA, and driving just a few miles can take hours at the wrong time of day - so triple check your directions and always allow more time than you think you need. We'd hate for you to miss out on any festivities while stuck on one of our famous freeways. If you want to keep life real simple, we suggest making Los Feliz / Silver Lake your home for the weekend - there's plenty to explore, it's safe, and you'll likely never sit more than 15/20 minutes in a car.

Question

Will transportation be provided to/from the airport?

Answer

Sorry, we're unable to arrange that - but check out our travel notes for best tips for ride shares and rental cars!

Question

Are Kids Welcome?

Answer

Sorry, no children are invited to our wedding. While we love your children, we want you to take the night off and come party with us!

For all the days along the way
