If you are flying, there are two airports that service the area. The San Jose Airport has the most flights available. Then it is a scenic 1.5 hour drive. The Monterey Regional Airport is only a 12 minute drive to Carmel. They have flights to/from Seattle and to/from Burbank just to mention a few of the main ones that would pertain to out guests. There are a multitude of places to stay whether you are looking for a hotel, Airbnb, or RV site. You do not have to stay in Carmel to be close to the ceremony or reception locations. Monterey, Pacific Grove and surrounding areas have numerous lodging options to fit your needs.
