We met in a public policy class at Dartmouth while both attempting to fulfill an “art” requirement, and we quickly connected over our shared talent for being terrible at art. A few formals, countless conversations, and a lucky match on Last Chances later, things quickly fell into place. Our relationship officially began on Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor during one of Audrey’s visits to the city — the start of what would become seven years (and counting) of adventures together.

Carson proposed in May on Mount Desert Island, Maine, at his family’s home overlooking the ocean -- one of their favorite places in the world. While Audrey and Carson were having an evening drink at their favorite local hotel, Carson received a staged phone call from his father with an alert that puffins were flocking off the dock – an extremely rare sighting on Acadia. After racing home, Carson lured Audrey down to the dock while a local photographer hid along the shoreline. What followed were a few sweet words and a yes. Audrey conveniently decided to wear a white dress for that 45-degree day, almost as if she knew it was happening the entire time… Back inside, Audrey’s parents, Carson's parents, and Audrey's Maid of Honor were waiting with champagne for a toast — the perfect start to a weekend celebrating the engaged couple and showing Audrey's side all of their favorite spots in Acadia National Park. Most excited about the proposal naturally was the Spahr's dog, Somesy (see below).
