We first met online over Thanksgiving 2018 and had our first date just a week later at a little Argentinian restaurant. It didn't take us long to realize that our first Chicago apartments were right across the street from each other - and we lived just five minutes apart for over two years!! Since that day we became inseparable, quickly meeting each others friends and spending all our time together. While in Chicago, we have throughly enjoyed everything that the city has to offer - from trying new bars and restaurants, to boat cruises, museums, concerts, and hockey games. We were incredibly fortunate to take a few trips together in 2019 - celebrating a wedding in Minneapolis, a Scott family surprise retirement party in DC (congrats Mom!!), a music making trip to LA and an amazing last minute trip to Vienna, thanks to Alex's work. We even snuck in a Messenger family cruise and trip to visit Taylor (Alex's brother) in New Orleans in 2020 before we coronavirus left us hunkered down in our new apartment. Shortly after moving in and spending every waking minute together in quarantine, Alex pulled off a beautiful surprise engagement by proposing in our apartment with a private chef. Fresh flowers, champagne, wine and plenty of food was a perfect way to celebrate our first night of quarantined engagement together. Since our engagement, we've tried to stay busy indoors through cooking together. Alex can usually be found making music and Katy, testing out new bread recipes. We've picked up a few new hobbies like puzzling and video games (Diablo and Dance Dance Revolution!) and are hoping that quarantine continues to perfect our home cooking.
