We're Getting Married!

We met in Houston, quite unintentionally, running into each other as friends of a friend. Fighting loneliness in a foreign land, we found solace in our shared alma mater and its memories. What started off as a short summer friendship that jumped from one barely free weekend to the other, turned into conversations that disrespected time zones, oceans and continents long after one of us had left for India. Both of us spent an inordinate amount of time wondering why not talking to the other for even a day felt this devastating. That is when we knew.

Distance was always the villain. At our third tearful airport goodbye at IAH, we decided, wordlessly and resolutely, that the next time we meet, we are getting engaged. That was the proposal: under scaffolding and exposed wooden beams and with a background score of the perpetual construction at Terminal D. 6 months later, we made it official, with just our parents and their blessing in attendance.
