Just a few people present when Josh surprised me!
Originally we met while Josh worked at Lake Lanier Islands via mutual friend. Later Josh would bartend at Mule Camp Tavern and Gina would occasionally show her ass. In 2017, Gina put it into the world via Facebook, that she required help moving. Josh was quick to respond and offer his help. On moving day Josh mentioned how much he liked hiking. Gina and her bestie had already decided Josh liked Gina, so Gina said she also liked hiking…Josh would later find out this may have been an exaggeration. Stay tuned for the tale of our first date.
Well, we have officially known each other for over 12 years now. I had started a new job as a bar manager down by the lake at a little place called Sunset Cove. The place where we officially first met. Occasionally, she would come down to the bar to visit a friend that happened to be one of the bartenders I worked with. We would exchange brief hellos and goodbyes and engage in some small talk. Usually about something silly like the weather. Then we would go our separate ways. Through the years, we would cross paths on this road of life and catch up for a while. One day by chance, I noticed a post she made about needing help with moving. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but as the day went on, I kept seeing her post pop up on my feed. I noticed she wasn’t getting a lot of responses, and as we all know, moving sucks. So, I decided to help and messaged her that I was available if she was still looking for people. And with a little luck, she responded. A few short weeks later, we were dating and inseparable. I’m not sure the exact moment I fell in love with her. Somewhere between the epic hikes and the late nights of painting and laughing. I never thought that all those years ago, those occasional hellos and goodbyes would lead to good mornings and good nights. And now, by chance and with a little luck, I get say I love you.
After slightly exaggerating her love of hiking Gina found herself hiking Mt. Yonah. Have you hiked Mt. Yonah, it’s not a beginners hike. Josh kept saying, “we’re almost there,” even though they were not. Somehow Gina made it to the top.
First Friday on the Gainesville Square is an event held monthly during the warmer months. Food trucks, lots of people, and a concert. On this First Friday Gina and Josh were bartending at Hopscotch, ready for a busy day. As Gina discussed the plan for the day with coworkers, "ok the plan is Emily and Tony take the bar at 9, Gina and Josh keep up with the crowd and clean up". The night went on. As the 9 o'clock hour approached Gina began to refill the now empty beer coolers, looking around for Josh to get the last case from the store room, he was no where to be found. About that time another coworker came and pulled Gina from stocking, stating Bud needed her outside. This was frustrating to Gina as the beer coolers were almost empty and several desperately in need of restocking. As Gina met up with Bud, Gina was told she needed to walk with Bud to his car....that was a lie. As Gina stood with Bud watching the bands play she noticed Josh by the stage, with his parents, and our manager David. Bud just kept telling Gina they were listening to the band. Then the band stopped, and called Josh to the stage to "sing a song". That was also a lie. Josh pulled Gina to the stage in front of over 1000 people, knelt down, and dropped the ring. After retrieving it from the nearby speaker he asked it Gina would please be his wife. As Gina grabbed the mic she paused, having teased for months that she would say 'Maybe", Gina said "YES"! They kissed on stage as the crowd cheered. Gina had no idea this was happening. Afterwards Josh and Gina had an excellent night celebrating with all of town.
