Open until 8pm the Guthrie Theater has more to offer than just shows! We have visited the outdoor oberservation deck of The Endless Bridge with a view of the Mississippi River and St. Anthony Main. This is a free activity. We suggest: take the train from the hotel here! At Nicollet Station get on the eastbound green line or the southbound blue line and get off at the U.S. Bank Stadium stop. It's a short walk from there. Take the long escalator ride up to the main level of the theater, grab a cocktail from the on-site bar and bring it out on the observation deck. The Guthrie is next to beautiful Gold Medal Park, a local ice cream shop called Izzy's, Mill City Ruins Museum and the Stone Arch Bridge.
A simple park consisting of stunning downtown views, a look at US Bank Stadium, and yard games like bags and giant Jenga. We suggest: take the train from the hotel here! At Nicollet Station get on the eastbound green line or the southbound blue line and get off at the U.S. Bank Stadium stop.
Steps away from the hotel and newly revamped. Take a walk through food trucks, street vendors, restaurants, and shops.
Open Streets is another of our favorite summer events to do in the city. The streets are closed to car traffic and open to people walking, biking and rolling. It is a street fair with local artists, businesses and community groups. Since this event is of a light-rail stop we recommend taking that or biking. If you have time to kill before your flight taking the southbound blue line light-rail to the Lake Street stop will put you right in the middle of this festival.
See iconic outdoor art such as the Cherry on a Spoon and Giant Blue Chicken. This was one of our first dates. We recommend: walking over the pedestrian bridge from Loring Park for a great view of the garden and sculptures!
Minneapolis is the City of Lakes! This happens to be the place we stayed up all night the first time we met. Now we take advantage of this beautiful area frequently in the warmer months. We suggest: take the Greenway to get there. Rent a canoe, paddle boat or kayak at Wheel Fun Rentals on the Northeast corner of Bde Maka Ska, and enjoy your time on the two lakes. We also enjoy walking and biking around the lakes.
If you know us, you know we're not sports fans. We manage to score free Twin's tickets once a season and have good memories at the ballpark of friends and family. No idea who played or who won though. On the weekend of our wedding the Twins will be playing the Oakland A's and New York Yankees.
We recommend: take the train here. Get on the southbound blue line at the Nicollet Mall station. Minnehaha Falls is a short walk from the 50th Street-Minnehaha Station. Grab a beer or wine at Sea Salt Eatery and wonder threw the park and gardens. Down from the falls is a wading area if you need to cool off!
This is our community park. We have great memories here with each other and friends. Take a walk around the lake, watch the ducks and roll down a hill!
Blocks from our home this is our go to spot when we can't agree what's for dinner! There are dozens of local food court style restaurants all in one place. You can get American, Mexican, Italian, BBQ, Indian, African, Asian, etc. here. There's also a brewery, market, shops and a butcher here.
Upscale Italian walking distance from the hotel.
The best ice cream in the Midwest!
There isn't better pho. Our most favorite restaurant.
Our favorite Italian food in the city.
One of the last dive bars left in Minneapolis. Proceed with caution.
