We met at a birthday party at the infamous CC Club in Uptown Minneapolis. Dan positioned himself next to Kerry at a large, round booth with friends all around. Kerry ordered Heggies pizza and Dan ordered whiskeys. The details remain blurry. Kerry didn't pay much attention to Dan until he put his arm around her. Liquid courage, indeed. After bar close, the birthday party moved to nearby Lake of the Isles, complete with blankets and beer. After talking for hours and hoping the night would never end, the two were the only ones left when the sun came up, surrounded by chirping birds and early morning runners. Kerry agreed to a date the next weekend. Dan planned a bike ride to a beach along the Mississippi River and a dinner of spicy tacos at Los Ocampo. The first of many dates was in the books.

Since then we've taken hundreds of bike rides around our beautiful Minneapolis. We've traveled around the US and Europe, landscaped Dan’s backyard, and spiffed up the house on Portland Avenue. We love to entertain and host parties. Our friend groups converged, families too. After four years of dating, on our anniversary, Dan proposed at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. He planned a picnic in a secluded spot within a grove of pine trees. He started a lovely speech to Kerry while she had a mouthful of carrot cake. It ended with a tearful, "will you marry me?" She said “of course!" And we drove our rented Mazda Miata convertible around Carver County, Lake Minnetonka, and back through downtown Minneapolis and to the lake where we spent our first night together. For our wedding we have chosen the American Swedish Institute. On our wedding day we honor each other, our family, friends and ancestors.
