We first met at FEA, a conference for Fraternity and Sorority Consultants in Indianapolis, IN. I gave Cody my business card at a breakout session but didn't think much of it. Cody emailed me a few weeks later when he got assigned to a project in Rochester, New York, the city I was living in that year. I forgot to respond to his email but thankfully he texted me when he arrived in Rochester! After hanging out with a group of consultants for a few weeks, (and some flirty text messages while I traveled) Cody asked me on a date and the rest is history!
I had arrived home from Guatemala late the night before, and Cody had a early flight in from Columbus that morning. When I picked him up from the airport, he casually asked if I wanted to go on a walk later. I agreed as long as I could get a long nap in first. Later that day, I kept putting off our walk to workout, shower, get some food, etc. and Cody was getting increasingly antsy. I had a moment where I thought "should I be putting on cute clothes and makeup for this walk just in case?" but then was like, nah, I need to stop thinking this way! So we went on our walk along beautiful Lake Mendota and ended up sitting on the rocks at then end of Picnic Point as the Golden Hour set in. I don't remember really any of what was said because of all the happy tears, hugging and laughing with joy! My parents were there to surprise me afterwards and we had dinner with friends at our favorite rooftop restaurant. It was the perfect day!
We were married in Savannah's parent's back yard surrounded by our parents and siblings!
