History of the Shoreham

Nestled on the edge of Rock Creek Park, the Omni Shoreham has served as a Washington, DC social hub since its opening in October of 1930.
As the venue for every presidential inaugural ball from 1933 to 2009, the Shoreham has witnessed history set to music and dance. Presidents and politicians - including Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, and Clinton - have passed through its halls, with Truman famously hosting all‑night poker games in Room 406D. On the eve of American Beatlemania in 1964, the Beatles took over the entire seventh floor, leaving Lennon’s handwritten set list behind as a lasting piece of Shoreham lore.
Today, the Omni Shoreham remains a timeless backdrop for weddings and celebrations. Its lush gardens, crystal chandeliers, and sweeping terraces echoing nearly a century of elegant gatherings and storied moments.
