Shaped like a square, "Kennett", as the locals call it, is the self-proclaimed Mushroom Capital of the World because there is a boatload of mushroom farming happening in the area. Downtown Kennett has many shops, restaurants, galleries, and a Friday evening farmer's market. Free parking in the garage all weekend.
The largest single-day battle of the American Revolution isn't talked about too much today, because it did not go particularly well for Washington and the Continental Army. British forces under Gens. Cornwallis and Howe would then take Philadelphia as the Americans retreated to the west.
