Question

Any advice for getting around on the big day?

Answer

We certainly encourage you to carpool to and from the church. Hotel Warner is about 25 minutes from the Church, which means you'll have plenty of time to regroup before heading to the reception (~10 min. away). Greystone Hall (the reception site) has ample space for self-parking, but does not permit cars to be left overnight. If you plan to drink, please be a smart adult and make alternate arrangements. Uber, Lyft, and taxis are available in Kennett and West Chester, and will be a great option for getting you to the reception, and you can take our shuttle home (more on this below). The wedding party's minibus will be available to transport many of our guests back to West Chester after 8 pm. It will leave from Greystone Hall roughly every 20-30 minutes. Members of the wedding party will have priority on the 10 pm run, so please keep that in mind as you plan your return. The final run (~10:20-ish) may also include transport to hotels in Kennett after stopping at Hotel Warner.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Probably warm-ish by day and pleasant by evening. Average highs/lows in August for West Chester are 83 and 63 degrees. But check back here as the big day gets closer: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=39.96&lon=-75.62#.Wy528FVKiYk *Update* As of August 11th, the forecast is more or less in line with historical averages. Let's cross our fingers it stays that way!

Question

I know Eric likes Scotch. Why isn't that on your registry?

Answer

We haven't found a place that both ships alcohol to Wisconsin (yes, it's legal) and offers gift registries. Suggestions are welcomed. In the meantime, the following websites do ship to Wisconsin and have excellent selections: https://www.reservebar.com/ https://spiritedgifts.com/single-malt-scotch-whisky

Question

What's the deal with Greystone Hall? What's this Harry Potter-ish house doing in West Chester?

Answer

It was built as the private home of Philip Sharples, inventor of the Sharples Tubular Cream Separator. They were built in a factory in West Chester and he used his tremendous newfound wealth to build Greystone. It's now owned by another family, who rents out the main floor and parts of the grounds for events, like our wedding reception.

Question

What the heck is the Sharples Tubular Cream Separator?

Answer

An easier way to get butter from milk than one of those rocking-chair style churns. You should have the chance to view one during the reception. More history here: https://www.farmcollector.com/equipment/sharples-power-equipped-cream-separator
