Great fun for the whole family! Sarah and Paul have been here many a time and will always go again. If you are bringing the kids, this is a must!
Fun playground and seaside walk following the start of the Iditarod Trail
Sarah's favorite restaurant and locale for a few birthday celebrations!
Easy hike/stroll to get up close with a glacier. Really interesting to see the signs marking where the glacier was in each year (and where it is now). Can also do the more strenuous hike up to Harding Icefield from here. If you make it to the top, it looks like you’re on the moon.
Favorite easy access beach in Seward to beachcomb and find treasures plus gorgeous views
Little spot for quick tasty bites of Mexican inspired food
Renovated church to coffee shop; A must stop on every trip to Seward (or a quick walk from the hospital when Sarah is working here)! Excellent basement baked bakery items, local art, and delicious coffees… their sage coffees do not disappoint.
Fun spot to tour an old mine, historic site and actually pan for gold! Keep whatever you find! Great stop for kids and adults alike.
Pretty hike over a gorge of glacial water
Short walk to natural forest water falls
Decent food, beer and atmosphere
Good brews and occasional food trucks
Paul's favorite restaurant and Sarah's very close second! Nice outdoor area with fire pits and drinks while you wait for a table.
Another nearby/accessible glacier and lake. Very easy paddle/float on the river out to the ocean and one we did quite frequently to just be out on the water and test new gear :)
Longest tunnel in North America/USA. One way tunnel and have to alternate directions every hour. Train also goes through it. Town of whittier on the other side is quite remote but has good fishing and kayaking options out of it, as well as potential to catch the ferry to Valdez or continue further south along Alaska's coast
Amazing nordic spa, meaning cold pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, scrubs etc all in the Alaskan outdoors. If you want to treat yourself while on your trip to AK, this place is it. You feel relaxed after, but you have to do the cold plunges! The full day option is probably a bit much for most people, but the after 5pm option is great after you have spent the day exploring and a little cheaper
Good viewpoint to watch the tide come in, belugas or the bore tide (large tide that creates waves large enough to surf on)
Tasty little coffee shop on the go. Love their breakfast focaccia but it sells out
Place to see bison, bear, and other alaskan creatures
Look up the race just for fun, or try your luck hiking it! It’s pretty tough but gorgeous views.
This is a favorite stop! Complete with children’s exploration center, art, history, rotating exhibits, coffee shop etc! It’s a great stop and too much to do sometimes!
Learn about the biggest earthquake in US history and the start of the Iditarod
This is one of the kayak tour companies that goes out to Bear Glacier and Kenai Fjords! Patrti & Arden highly recommend this tour.
Boat cruises to see the rest of the Kenai Fjord and glaciers
Another boat tour company to get out and check out Seward from the water!
For such an easy and short trail, Tonsina Creek is stunning. You get a little bit of rainforest and beach alongside beautiful views of Resurrection Bay. There are also nearby dry cabins which are one of our favorite ways to get
Adventure is out there! Have gone on white water rafting tours with them and a few others!
