Mikey and Sarah met at the library... The Library Wine Bar and Bistro. Mikey charmed Sarah with his sweet and silly demeanor while Sarah won her way into Mikey's heart with her smile and quick wit. They bonded over their passion for helping others and traded war stories from their years of working clinically. Their lunch date quickly turned into an all-day event and they even shut down a bar - or two.
The day after Thanksgiving, Sarah and Mikey had plans to meet Greg and Katie, Mikey's twin and his wife, for cocktails in South Norwalk before heading to NYC to see the Christmas lights. Katie texted the group shortly before meeting each other that the restaurant had canceled their reservation due to a glitch in the scheduling app and that they would meet us in an hour at a different restaurant. Naturally, Sarah recommended she and Mikey go to a different bar to kill time before meeting Greg and Katie. However, Mikey had other plans. Background Information: Sarah had started a tradition of seeing the sunrise at the beach every New Year's Day to welcome the new year. That year when she and Mikey started dating, she was in NYC for New Year's Eve with her cousin and missed the sunrise. When she returned to CT, she suggested that she and Mikey see the sunrise at the beach one day later. At the time, they had only been dating for a week, and Sarah was unaware that Mikey was not a morning person. Regardless, he wanted to impress Sarah, so he said yes and set 8 alarms in the morning. Sarah surprised Mikey with a hot coffee in the car and packed a picnic. They sat on a bench together at the beach, snuggled under a blanket, sipping coffee and watching the sunrise. It was one of their favorite memories, and they still go there every New Year's Day. Back to Engagement Day. Neither Mikey nor Sarah dressed appropriately to endure the cold November weather or ocean winds, but Mikey insisted they walk on the beach. Mikey leads Sarah to the end of the boardwalk, holding her hand and reminiscing about their relationship - the good times, the lessons they've learned, and their commitment to each other since the beginning. At the end of the boardwalk, Mikey asked Sarah to look into a stationary viewing scope while he knelt on one knee, and when Sarah turned around, he proposed. Sarah said yes!
