Not only is the Barnes the location of Sarah and Loren's wedding ceremony and reception, but it is has an impressive collection of impressionist, post-impressionist, and modern paintings, as well as a dramatic Philadelphia history. If you are interested in tickets or a docent tour of the collection, please let us know by 4 weeks prior to the wedding. A note to Sarah's former co-residents: the Barnes Foundation has no connection to Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
A medical museum with amazing (and sometimes creepy) collections of anatomical specimens, models, and medical instruments. Sarah and Loren used to live one block away and visited frequently!
A science museum that pays homage to Philly's favorite Founding Father, the Franklin Institute is a fun, interactive favorite. Sarah's recommendation: pretend to be a blood cell traveling through the giant heart exhibit!
If you didn't know that Philadelphia is the birthplace of America, you can get your non-Hamilton historical fix starting at Independence Hall, the building where both the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted.
Sarah has trained for multiple Philly races along this trail, and you will likely see high school and college crews rowing by if you visit this path, which has 75 miles of trail extending from South Street to Manayunk and beyond. Pronunciation: SKOO-kill (Dutch for "Hidden River")
Honestly, you can get an awesome Philly Cheesesteak from any street vendor, but Pat's claims to have invented the iconic Philly sandwich in 1930. If you want to compare the greats, you can also check out Geno's (right across the street) and Jim's (down the block) and let us know which is your favorite.
