Sarah and Loren met in the Quad during freshman year of college, at which point Loren claims that he told his friends he would someday marry Sarah. After a year of friendship (during which Loren was a perfect gentleman), they started dating and fell in love. They had adventures all over Philadelphia and beyond, met each others' families, and got a delightful kitten named Ajax. Sarah learned more than she ever thought possible about rowing, and Loren learned all the Huepenbecker board game rules. After 5 years, they separated (Loren's family kept the cat, who continues to live his best life on the Main Line). Thankfully, they reunited while Sarah was in residency and Loren was in medical school, and this time they knew they never wanted to let each other go. After a scandalously short time, Loren proposed on a boat in the Galapagos Islands, and Sarah of course said yes. They are now chasing the dual-doctor dream life of Emergency Medicine resident/Gynecologic Oncology fellow and living happily ever after in Houston with their (other) cat Angel and dog Granger. We are thrilled to tie the knot in Philadelphia where our love started and can't wait to celebrate with our family and friends!
We are experiencing the effects of Covid-19 in our hospitals and communities firsthand and are monitoring the situation closely (just ask Loren about Sarah's Excel modeling spreadsheets). Nothing is more important to us than the safety of the friends and family we love and cherish. We are cautiously optimistic that by May 2021 there will be significant vaccine availability to the general population and something approaching herd immunity HOWEVER if this year has taught us anything it is that life is unpredictable. Therefore, we have a Plan A, B, and C for the wedding pending the level of Covid infections, Philadelphia regulations, and overall safety. Of course, we will understand if you are unable to attend due to infection concerns despite our best efforts. In the meantime, we will keep our website updated and our fingers crossed! Current Covid safety measures in place for our wedding weekend: ● Limiting our guest list to Pennsylvania and Philadelphia venue capacity guidelines ● Our welcome party, reception, after-party, and farewell brunch will take place outdoors ● Masks are required inside the Barnes Foundation during the wedding ceremony and during cocktail hour unless you are eating or drinking. You must be seated to eat or drink. ● Masks are NOT required outdoors for the ceremony reception or farewell brunch. You MAY wear masks if you desire based on vaccination status and comfort level ● Temperatures will be taken upon entry to the Barnes Foundation ● Vendors and servers will be required to wear masks in all spaces (indoor and outdoor) ● Hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the event spaces ● We will be live-streaming the wedding as an option to enjoy if you decide to stay home
