We met on JSwipe (the Jewish dating app) in late 2019 while we were both living in Colorado. At the time, Jake was in graduate school in Boulder and Sarah was working & preparing for graduate school while living in in Denver. Our first date was at a spot between, The Bardo Coffee House in Denver, at night for some reason. Sarah nervously talked a lot and lost her phone at one point but she asked thoughtful questions and charmed Jake into wanting a second date. Our second date was a spontaneous bar hop around Boulder where we happened upon a live band playing at License No. 1--a basement speakeasy under the Hotel Boulderado. It was a fantastic and fun night that really sparked our early relationship. From then on, we texted nearly every day and have spoken basically every single day since then. The COVID lockdown hit us a little more than 6 months into our relationship which turned out to be perfect timing. We all but moved in together and started going on even more outdoor adventures. The real blessing was that--since the pandemic made everything accessible virtually--Sarah was able to stay in Colorado for an extra year instead of having to move cross-country for the start of her PsyD program. We had an amazing time in Boulder together and by the time Sarah had to start her PsyD program in-person, Jake had finished up school and was ready to move across the country to stay with her. We moved to Philadelphia in the Summer of 2021 and have been in the area since. We love this city; especially exploring the arts, culture, and food scene together. We have two cats (Gigi and Ozzy) that came with us from Boulder and who take up a sizeable amount of our phones' photos data. We still love hiking, going to arts & craft shows, as well as watching movies and doing photography. We settled in to our first home together in the Manayunk neighborhood and are excited to be here for the foreseeable future! We are so grateful that Sarah's siblings & their families decided to move to the Philadelphia area with us. We are also looking forward to taking many more trips to the Bay Area to visit Jake's family! We are so grateful that our two families are joining together this November. We both value truth and communication, deep connection, rigorous thought, self-growth, and investing in our relationships. I (Jake) couldn't have asked for a more supportive, loving, and devoted partner and I feel so lucky to get to have Sarah in my life forever more. [Sarah is happy crying <3] If you're reading this, we are delighted to be sharing in this joyous occasion with you! With love, Jake & Sarah
