Question

WHY ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA?

Answer

As some of you may already know, we love to travel! So, when thinking about where we should host our wedding, we both knew we had to get creative! After thorough* research (…..aka, asking all our closest friends & family), Antigua stood out. So here we are now, asking our crew to come celebrate our love & union over this once in a lifetime, memorable, weekend! We wanted to take our guests to a place that is rich in history, which can still be seen through the culture, food, environment, & architecture present today. This is truly a special place that means a lot to us and wanted nothing more than to celebrate with all our friends & family!

Question

US PASSPORT

Answer

All US citizens must use a valid passport when traveling between Guatemala and the United States. Passports must have at least six (6) months of validity, or they risk being turned away by the airline or immigration. Dual nationals may be able to enter Guatemala on a second nationality passport but will not be permitted to board a return flight to the US without a US passport.

Question

GENERAL TRAVEL INFO

Answer

Guatemala is amazing and we know you are going to fall in love with Antigua as well! The city of Antigua is a vibrant city surrounded by volcanos! There are a lot of really cool bars, breweries, speakeasy’s, local markets, and the food is amazing! The Quetzal is Guatemala's currency. The conversion rate is approximately 1 USD to 7.80 Quetzals. Most places, but not all, take credit/ debit cards. That being said, it’s always a good idea to carry some cash on you when traveling. You can exchange currency at the airport when you arrive or use ATMs located throughout Antigua.

Question

DRESS CODE

Answer

Semi-Formal Beachy Attire This suggests a classic, yet elegant, wedding with an elevated laid-back beachy twist, so dress to impress! In general, you can expect to wear nice light, airy, and breathable fabrics. Semi-Formal Beachy attire is similar to what you might wear at a nice beach resort or to a nice dinner in the summer season. Ladies Elegant maxi or midi dresses, long flowy skirts, nice heels, wedges, or sandals, etc. You may also want to bring a lightweight wrap or scarf in case it cools off after the sun goes down. Again, the streets are paved with large ancient cobble stones so pack your comfiest heels, wedges, or sandals and maybe leave the stilettos behind. Gents An elegant summer suit, nice button-down shirt with blazer, and nice slacks/pants. The weather in Antigua is beautiful during this time and will be in the mid to high 70’s but might be slightly cooler at night.

Question

COME PREPARED

Answer

The weather in Antigua is beautiful during this time of year and will be in the mid to high 70’s but might be slightly cooler at night. So, we suggest our guest come prepared and pack a jacket, sweater, wrap, blazer, etc. to wear at night when it’s a bit cooler. The streets are paved with large cobbles stones and the sidewalks can be a bit uneven, so please make sure you pack shoes you’ll be comfortable walking around in. There are also a bunch of fun excursions and things to do in & around the city. So, if you’re thinking about planning some adventures while you are there, make sure to come prepared! Please check out the “Things to Do” section. We’ve included some of the many fun excursions & activities Antigua has to offer! Guatemala is known for its coffee, chocolate, and avocados (so, you can’t tell me you aren’t already falling in love with this place), so there are a bunch of various different kinds of tours, including ATV tours, that we highly suggest, from personal experience – they are awesome! See more in the “Things to Do” section!
