Ashton and Sarah met in December 2025 thanks to a little unexpected matchmaking from Sarah's godfather — who managed to play wingman without Sarah even realizing it at the time. After connecting, the two met shortly after and quickly discovered a connection that felt effortless and undeniable. At the time, Sarah was living and working in Seattle, Washington, far from her home country of New Zealand, while Ashton was in Cedar City, Utah. Despite the distance, they made every effort to see each other as often as possible, and with every visit their relationship only grew stronger. Before long, they both realized they had found the kind of love people mean when they say, “when you know, you know.” In March, Ashton proposed, and soon after the two began planning both a wedding and a new chapter together, with Sarah moving closer to Ashton ahead of their July wedding celebration. With loved ones spread across the East Coast, New Zealand, and beyond, they know not everyone can be there in person on their special day. They are incredibly grateful for everyone who is able to celebrate with them and will be thinking of and missing those who cannot attend.
