The wedding venue is located on the Island of Hawai'i where Sarah grew up. The island of Hawaiʻi is the youngest and largest island in the Hawaiian chain. Nearly twice as big as all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined (hence, its nickname, “Big Island”), its sheer size is awe-inspiring. The Big Island contains all four different climate zones, ranging from Wet Tropical to Polar Tundra. This is a result of the shielding effect and elevations of the massive volcanoes Maunakea and Maunaloa. From the many geological features at Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park to the snow-capped heights of Maunakea; from the lush valleys of the Hilo and Hāmākua Coasts to the jet-black sands of Punaluʻu Beach, the island of Hawaiʻi is an unrivaled expression of the power of nature. We recommend arriving at least 2 days prior to the wedding to allow yourself time to adjust to the time zone and explore the island.

We recommend flying into the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (Airport Code: KOA) on the leeward or western side of the island. It is the closest airport to the wedding location, recommended accommodations, and has the most flight options to and from other Hawaiian islands as well as the U.S. mainland.
