FAQs

Question

When should I plan to arrive?

Answer

We suggest arriving in Hawai'i at least 2-3 days prior to the wedding. That way you have time to rest, adjust to the time difference, and enjoy paradise. We hope you can stay longer than just a few days to explore all the island has to offer!

Question

Do I need a rental car?

Answer

It would be most convenient to rent a vehicle for your time on the island. There are very limited Taxi, Ubers and Lyfts available. We recommend getting a rental car to make the most of your trip and to explore the island. If you choose to stay at a hotel they will be able to connect you with a taxi service. Kona Taxi Cab is a popular service available on the Western side of the island. https://konataxicab.com/#!/index 808-324-4444

Question

How much will this cost?

Answer

To help you plan, here are some estimated costs. The cost to Hawai'i will range depending on what part of the world you are joining us from. Flights to Hawai'i from the mainland can range from $400 - $1,600. Flights to Hawai'i from Europe or Australia can range from $1,000 - $2,500. A hotel stay can cost between $100-300 per night. Rental car costs can range from $20-60 a day depending on the vehicle. We recommend booking in advance to get the best prices.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Hawai'i is in a subtropical climate, therefore it is warm and humid. The weather is consistent year around, but specifically in April and May the temperatures can range from 68°F / 83°F or 20°C / 28°C. We recommend bringing t-shirts, shorts, sundress, sandals, comfortable walking shoes, hat, swimsuits, a light jacket, sunglasses and lots of *reef safe* sunscreen! The sale of non-reef safe sunscreen is illegal in Hawai'i to protect our oceans. Please be mindful of this and do not bring or use non-reef safe sunscreen if you plan to enter the ocean. If you are unsure of where to get reef safe sunscreen, there will be plenty to purchase in Hawai'i. While you may not need it during the day time, we recommend bringing some long pants and long shirts for the evenings and nights. Parts of the island also experiences heavy rain. If you plan to visit parts of the island with high elevation such as Mauna Kea summit, Volcanoes National Park, or Waimea you will need warmer clothing.
