The wedding will be at the The Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The baraat is the groom’s wedding procession and a super fun, high-energy part of the day! Traditionally, the groom arrives at the ceremony location accompanied by family and friends dancing to music—sometimes with a dhol drummer, DJ, or even a horse. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration and dance their way in! As the baraat approaches the venue, the bride’s family greets the groom’s side in a warm and symbolic welcome called the milni, which often includes hugs, garlands, and sometimes playful rituals. It’s a beautiful moment of both families coming together before the ceremony begins.
The Hindu wedding ceremony is a sacred and symbolic ritual filled with meaningful traditions. It takes place under a decorated canopy called a mandap. The ceremony includes exchanging floral garlands (jaimala), circling a sacred fire (agni), and taking seven steps together (saptapadi), each representing a vow. Most of the ceremony is conducted in Sanskrit by a priest, but don't worry—a translation or explanation is often provided throughout, so you can follow along. The ceremony will last about 45 minutes to an hour, and it’s perfectly okay to quietly enter or exit if needed. It’s a spiritual event, but also welcoming and inclusive—come with curiosity and open hearts!
We’re so excited to celebrate with you! The dress code is formal—feel free to wear either Western or Indian attire. For Western outfits, think suits and ties or formal dresses. If you’d like to wear Indian attire, saris, lehengas, sherwanis, or kurta sets are all wonderful options. We’d love to see you in whatever makes you feel festive and comfortable! If you have any questions, contact Sam or Becca!
Yes! It’s common at Indian weddings for guests (and the couple!) to change outfits between the ceremony and the reception. If you'd like to switch things up—go from traditional to formal Western wear, or just refresh your look—you’re absolutely welcome to. We'll have a break between the events to allow time for a change.

We kindly ask that only guests listed on your invitation attend. If a plus-one is not named, we appreciate your understanding in keeping the celebration intimate. Thank you!
