Sam and Becca first crossed paths in 2018 at Virginia Commonwealth University. Sam was a master’s student teaching a biology capstone lab, and Becca was an undergrad enrolled in the course. The next semester, Becca became a preceptor in the same lab—helping teach and grade alongside Sam. After a semester of working (very professionally!) together, they decided to grab a drink at City Dogs on their last night teaching. That spontaneous outing turned into their first date. A few more hangouts later, they made it official. Though they kept things strictly academic during the semester, there were hints of something more.
