Nick proposed to Sarah during a 10-mile hike in Grand Teton National Park, at the edge of an ethereal glacial lake, aptly named Surprise Lake. Their Wyoming trip sums up all the best of their relationship and the chapters yet to come: happily meandering chats on long drives, Nick telling just the right joke to disrupt the silence of Sarah's meditative hike, Sarah asking 1,001 questions about Yellowstone wolf society before Nick is given a chance to reply, both Sarah and Nick working together to outsmart a charging black bear (some details exaggerated), the delight of being offered Nerds Gummy Clusters on a 7-hour trek, debates about whether a bison burger is the best pre-hike meal, and all the joy of finding beauty in the ordinary moments thanks to the right adventure partner.
