Question

Transportation to / from the venue?

Answer

We have scheduled a shuttle to pick up our out-of-town guests in Downtown Sintra and bring them to/from the venue. Please note the schedule below is firm so plan accordingly: Shuttle Pickup Time: 3pm (firm - please be on time): Shuttle Pickup/Drop-off Location: https://goo.gl/maps/vVv6LVvwDAwX4P997?coh=178572&entry=tt The pickup/drop off point is a 5-minute walk from the Tivoli Hotel, a 10-minute walk from Sintra Marmoris Camelia and Chalet Saudade, and a 14-minute walk from the Marmoris Palace. Arjan Frederiks will be the on-site shuttle coordinator. His WhatsApp is +31 6 29 26 15 60. Please message him if you have any trouble finding the shuttle pick up spot. Uber is also very easy and readily available in Sintra, as is BOLT (another car sharing app that operates in Portugal). Getting an Uber to the venue shelled be easy, but it may be difficult to get one back late in the evening, so we have the shuttle scheduled to make return runs to the pickup/drop-off location at 12am, 1am, and 2am. Here are contacts for Taxis, in case you need them: PÊRO PINHEIRO – 00 351 969 054 508 TAXI SINTRA – 00 351 21 913 80 18 TAXI – 00 351 966 001 811 NEGRAIS – 00 351 966 047 448 MÁRIO DO SABUGO – 00 351 969014068 Local? There is ample parking at the venue.

Question

How long is the wedding reception?

Answer

Get ready to Partyyyy!!! Portuguese weddings go all night long, so expect the fun (music, food, drinks, and dancing) to continue until 2am! So that parents can enjoy the full festivities, a trusted family friend will be onsite in an adjacent building to watch over sleeping children and transportation will be available to/from downtown Sintra for those staying in that area who prefer not to drive. Pro-tip for the ladies: bring a comfortable pair of sneakers or sandals to change into as the night goes on.

Question

Is this a traditional Portuguese wedding? Or a traditional U.S. wedding?

Answer

Yes, and no. Susana is the courageous adventurer who moved halfway across the world. Eric is the anxious one who solves being unable to sit still by getting on a plane to places unknown. Together, they're unstoppable, because they bring out the best in one another. Overall, you will likely find the wedding festivities flow very similar to what you expect, regardless of your origin. That said, some differences do exist. In the U.S., the bride and groom typically stand during the ceremony; in Portugal, they are typically seated at a table at the front. In the U.S. they orally express their commitment; in Portugal, they sign the paperwork. Will we sit or will we stand? Come to Portugal and find out! The only teaser we will provide is we both are going to sign on the dotted line, whether that's on literal paper or proverbially. Our music choices are a blend. Our Portuguese friends and family should familiarize themselves with Andy Grammer. Our U.S. friends and family should familiarize themselves with Carolina Deslandes and Pedro Abrunhosa. Check out our playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7DX3sk5pB5bdZB8F2RbzQf?si=161a43f6d00046cd Other fast facts: True to Portuguese customs the wedding will run late into the night, there will be a ton of food, you can waive napkins in the air, and you can kiss all the Americans on the cheek as frequently as you like. True to U.S. customs there will be a large bridal party, a rehearsal dinner, and the Best Men and Maid of Honor will be speaking. We are beginning a journey as a multicultural family and we know more unites than divides us, so expect to be surrounded by family and friends, enjoying a gorgeous venue with music and dancing, and an evening full of love.

Question

O que esperar deste casamento Luso-Americano?

Answer

Question

Will there be fireworks?

Answer

Great news - the votes are in and the fireworks are confirmed for the cake cutting!

Question

Get familiar with our favorite songs that will play at the wedding!

Answer

Listen to our Playlist on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7DX3sk5pB5bdZB8F2RbzQf?si=eb098c1529064c61 #SantosLiguori We will update the playlist frequently!

Question

I'm from the U.S. - what else do I need to know?

Answer

Insights from Eric: Expect lots of kisses, sometimes from strangers. Expect most everyone to speak English, and even if it's not perfect, it will be way better than your Portuguese. Expect Nuno to talk about wine, BBQ, and fishing. U.S. citizens don't need any kind of special Visa, but be sure your passport is current. Wine is cheaper, yet delicious (Eric is glad to provide a list of favorites). If you order a coffee expect it to be the size of a shot of liquor. Go visit Porto. It's worth the trip.

Question

What’s the Honeymoon plan?

Answer

We are going to…. GREECE 🇬🇷!

For all the days along the way
