Oaxaca, Mexico

Oaxaca de Juarez is the capital city of Oaxaca, a state in Southern Mexico.
While some English is spoken in hotels and restaurants, most citizens only speak Spanish or Indigenous languages. Oaxaca is a fairly safe city, with the most popular neighborhoods for tourists being Reforma, Xochimilco, Jalatlaco, Centro, La Noria, and Santo Domingo.
November is dry season in Oaxaca, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 40s.
Oaxaca is considered one of Mexico's gastronomical capitals. You will see lots of traditional Mexican fares (tacos, pozole, tamales, caldo, quesabirrias) while also having several dishes special to Oaxaca (tlayudas, moles, chapulines, tejate, and mezcal).
Oaxaca de Juarez is also famous for its numerous museums, colonial architecture, catholic churches, and the city's walkability. Full days can be made out of hopping around museums, restaurants, and mezcal tastings. Be sure to check out the open-air markets where local artisans sell their wares and the food is delicious!
