If you have time to visit San Francisco do it, it's right across the Bay Bridge from Oakland and there's no shortage of great things to do there!
The island of Alameda is right next to Oakland and has the largest concentration of beautiful historic Victorian homes in the East Bay. It used to be a major vacation hub for wealthy San Franciscans to escape the city and spend summers in their second homes. We enjoy visiting Rock Wall Winery with amazing views of the San Francisco skyline. Visit downtown Alameda on Park St for a plethora of delicious eateries. There's also Faction Brewery and Hangar 1 distillery open to the public for tastings. If you're up for a beach day check out Crown Beach to soak up some sun.
