As international tourists visiting Colombia, guests may be exempt from the IVA (value-added tax) on certain tourism services, including hotel accommodations. This benefit applies to most foreign visitors, regardless of nationality, provided they enter the country as tourists and present a valid passport with a tourist entry stamp at check-in. ​The refund of VAT to foreign tourists is a benefit established in Law 300 of 1996, which consists of returning VAT to tourists who buy taxed goods within the national territory.
