Question

Why New Orleans?

Answer

Why not?! Ha, just kidding. Our family and friends are spread out across the US and Europe, so we wanted a big enough hub for people to easily fly into. We love NYC, but let's be honest...it is EXPENSIVE! ;) Plus, we wanted to do something a little fun and unique; a semi-destination wedding. So after the engagement, we started making a list of cities we love, and New Orleans was on the top of our list! We love the architecture, people, culture, and food (we LOVE Creole and Cajun food). And when we started telling our friends and family, we heard two things - 1) either people have been there and are dying to go back or 2) people have not been there but have been dying to go! So that made it easy...well "easy" (aka it only took us 6 months to finally decide, after lots of probing from our families ;))!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire. Women: Cocktail dresses, blouse and skirt, jumpsuit, etc. Men: Jackets preferred, but not required. If you choose not to wear a jacket, please wear a tie. No jeans please. Note: We recommend you check the weather. It may get cooler at night and there is a beautiful outdoor courtyard at the reception venue, so you may want a sweater/jacket.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We have had to make the hard decision to only invite kids who are first cousins + the flower girl & ring bearer.

Question

What is a New Orleans wedding reception like?

Answer

First, we are so excited for you all to experience a traditional Nola-style cocktail reception...let's just say it is one big party! :) Here are a few details so you can know what to expect: 1) When you arrive at the reception, food will be available (passed appetizers plus stations), the bar is open, and so is the dance floor! So you can eat, drink, and dance whenever you want in whatever order you want. 2) This means there is no formal seated dinner. There will be plenty of tables and chairs though for those who want to sit down and relax (we all know how comfortable heels are after 30 minutes) ;) 3) The food stations will be open and replenished throughout the night, so you can even go back for seconds, thirds, and fourths...which we are planning on doing since we are very excited about our menu! 4) Since there is not a seated dinner, that is why the reception is usually a little shorter 5) Most of the speeches are done at the rehearsal dinner, rather than the reception

Question

What does Nola stand for?

Answer

New Orleans, LA :)

Question

What is the weather going to be like in February?

Answer

Good question! When we asked all the locals this same question, they all chuckled. They said the only thing they can be sure of is that July and August are always HOT. Other than that, it is anyone's guess. But according to Google, it says the average high in February is 66 degrees with an average low of 47 degrees (Fahrenheit). That being said, February 7, 2019, had a high of 80 degrees! So our best advice...check the weather leading up to the wedding and pack layers. :)

Question

Can we stay at a different hotel?

Answer

Of course! We just blocked rooms at four hotels to lock in great prices and ensure people have a place to stay if other accommodations get booked up.

Question

Is there parking at the church and/or reception venue?

Answer

There is only street parking, which is not the most reliable. We recommend catching an Uber/Lyft/cab from your hotel to the church for the wedding ceremony (it is only a few miles from most hotels). Then, it is less than a 5 minute walk from the church to the reception venue. And at the end of the night, you can request an Uber/Lyft back to your hotel.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Of course! We already know of most of our guests' food allergies, but if you want to confirm or let us know please email us at sammy.buescher@gmail.com!
