We met at work! While tending to tiny humans, each of us began to notice how the other took the utmost care with patients and families. With an insightful and encouraging nudge from a mutual friend and co-worker in the NICU, we began simply having conversations in the wee hours of night shift. It became obvious that we needed to have a casual hang outside of the hospital. So one morning, after work, we went for coffee. Coffee then turned into breakfast. Breakfast then turned into a walk. A walk then turned into record shopping...we ended up spending most of the afternoon together, talking about everything and nothing. They say, "When you know, you know." We knew. That day. Not only did we know, but even strangers recognized the connection. Our server at Hugo's that morning asked if we were married. He told us that the entire staff had been watching the sparks fly between us over breakfast, saying we had some some sort of indescribable energy, that we were meant for each other! There were a few more casual dates, and then one day, we sat together on Avila Beach. We sat face to face, in the sand, laying everything about ourselves and our pasts bare. When we were finished, we asked each other, "So, you still in?" And now here we are. Still tending to tiny humans together. Still in.
