The Wedding Website of Samantha Baldwin and Grant Prinsen
On this page you will find helpful information on flights, transportation, hotel and rental options detailed below. Our wedding event is located in a remote location near Red Cliff, CO. To be centrally located for the wedding events we recommend our guest stay in Vail, CO. Vail is separated by two small villages called the Vail Village and Lionshead Village. There is a free in-town bus that goes between both villages as well as some of the outlying areas of the town. It is an easy way to get around once you are in Vail. Some hotels and condos have onsite parking, valet or complimentary shuttles throughout town. Parking in Vail can be expensive and not readily available so check with your hotel. Mountain airport shuttles are the way to go for those who don't want to rent a car to get into town from DIA or the Eagle-Vail airport.

Flight

Denver International Airport and Eagle County Regional Airport

You can book flights from your city of origin to either DIA or the Eagle County Regional Airport to get into Colorado. Eagle-Vail Airport is approximately 30-40 minutes from Vail and is a smaller regional airport that serves commercial commuter aircraft and privately owned planes. Once in either airport, you will need ground transportation to Vail. High Altitude Awareness

Vail is located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado at 8,120 feet above sea level. Denver is 5,280 feet above sea level. Altitude can be an issue! Here is some information and advice on having a wonderful wedding weekend with us. Things to Remember When Visiting High Altitude: ~DRINK WATER. Before your trip to Vail, and while you are here, drinking plenty of water is the number one way to help your body adjust easily to our higher altitude. The air in Colorado is dry, like the desert, so you need about twice as much water here as you would drink at home. ~Monitor Your Alcohol Intake. In Colorado's rarified air, golf balls go 10% farther.. and so do cocktails. Alcoholic drinks pack more of a wallop than at sea level. It is recommended that you go easy on the alcohol in high altitudes, as its effects will feel stronger here. ~Eat Foods High in Potassium. Foods such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, greens, chocolate, granola, dates, dried fruit, potatoes and tomatoes will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake. ~Watch Your Physical Activity. Effects of exercise are more intense here. If you normally run 10 miles a day at home, might try 6 miles in Denver. ~Pack for Sun. With less water vapor in the air at this altitude, the sky really is bluer in Colorado. There's 25% less protection from the sun, so sunscreen is a must. Colorado receives over 300 days of sunshine each year. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, etc. ~Dress in Layers. Two days before your trip to Vail, check the weather and use the information to pack appropriately. Because you'll be closer to the sun, it can feel much warmer than the actual temperature during the daytime, and then become very chilly after sundown, particularly in the Fall. It is best to layer your clothing. ~Enjoy Yourself. Don't let anything you hear about the mile-high altitude scare you. The air is just thinner and dryer. Just follow these simple tips and you will very likely not even notice the difference.

For all the days along the way
