He was the groomsmen that I was matched up with for my older sister's wedding. I remember chatting with him, saying goodbye, and thinking "I'll never see this guy again." A week or so after the wedding we started talking and he tells me he likes me, but no way I'm ready for a relationship! So, we keep chatting for the next few months until I realized I finally liked him back. I was nervous to start a relationship after my last one didn't end so well, but he was so patient with me and around 2am on a Monday morning in August we officially started dating!
We spent the whole day together sightseeing, in St. Louis to see the arch and walk around, then to this little town called St. Charles and learned all about its history while walking along the streets. We sat down to eat a late lunch and I said "hope wherever we go for dinner, it's not till later" and Phillip said "well, I have a reservation." I started asking him a bunch of questions, but he refused to answer any of them. We left St. Charles after it got dark and started heading for our reservation. I had some suspicions. We pulled into a neighborhood and I thought he was going to show me the new house he just bought, but then we turned into this road that had trees full of beautiful Christmas lights. We parked the car and I thought we were going to get into this hay ride truck, but then we walked past it to this horse drawn carriage! There was a blanket with our names, a purple sparkly rose, and a cute stuffed bear with a necklace around it. We rode through the lights and came to a light tunnel and stopped (this is where Phillip was supposed to ask me), but he got frazzled and said "must be a traffic jam ahead of us" and there was a lot of cars in front of us, so I thought nothing of it. Made it to the end and before I could get off the carriage, Phillip (struggling) opened the back of the stuffed bear and pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I don't even remember the words he said, I just remember staring at the ring, waiting for him to be done, and repeating yes about eight times! He had only told about five people, so we went to Dairy Queen for dessert and I told ALL the people!
