We're Getting Married

Since both being transplants (Kayla from Michigan and Terry from Kentucky) we turned to an online dating app called Plenty of Fish to see what the Indianapolis dating scene had in store for us. After some time we stumbled upon each other and hit it off quickly.

After hitting it off online it was time for an in-person date. Terry planned a perfect first date for us at the Main Event. We started the night off by playing some pool and getting to know each other a little bit more. After Kayla got her butt whooped it was time for some real fun.....laser tag. Being the competitive people Kayla and Terry are they played round after round of laser tag taking no mercy on one another. Lots of laughter and anyone who knows us two also knows a lot of sweat was also shed which wasn't the best idea being a first date and all. The night continued with unlimited arcade games and dinner. To wrap up the night Terry impressed Kayla with some of his cool moves by showing his love of line dances out in the parking lot. A hug and following each other on the highway in our respective cars concluded our 5+ hour first date. What can we say... we couldn't get enough of each other from early on.

The first year Terry and Kayla were together they started a yearly tradition of going to see the Christmas tree lights at Monument Circle downtown Indianapolis while recapping the year together and discussing our plans for the future, all while sipping on some South Bend Chocolate Co. hot chocolate. This year, terry had an extra special surprise in store for Kayla. After eating dinner at one of our favorite restaurants downtown and getting some hot chocolate on this cold Friday night we made our way to Monument Circle to celebrate our year together and discuss our hopes for the future. Unlike the first time, the Monument was packed with lots of different spectators. As Kayla was taking in all the lights and the crowd, Terry was motioning to his crew to make this night even more special. As we turned the corner, Kayla saw a sign that read, "will you marry me" and then noticed some familiar faces holding each end of the sign, Emily Allbery and Kat Winton who are both in Kayla's bridal party. Once looking at Terry for confirmation, Kayla burst into tears and was met with Terry getting down on one knee to propose to Kayla. Terry says he had an elaborate speech planned but all that seemed to come out and all that matters were the words, "will you marry me." As tears strolled down Kayla's face she was able to tell the love of her life, "YES!" Kayla then realized that more of their friends were in attendance of this special night. To celebrate they all made their way to a local bar where cheers and phone calls were made.
